"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant..."

telling the fleet that complete surprise had been achieved.

More than just a significant military battle in world history, the events at Pear Harbor awakened the local military and civilian residents to the character of war. At the moment bombs began to fall, these men and women were instantly engaged into the depths of the human condition

The USS Arizona serves as the final resting place for many of the battleship's 1,177 crew members who lost their lives on December 7, 1941.
